Hi friends,

The following are the cool tips on the GATE exam day:

1) Do not eat heavily before exam. Take food as you feel comfortable.
2) If you are feeling questions are too hard and you are in nervous in the exam Then Just see others they also feel same way. Now take relax for minute and try for best.
3) Do not make mistake if you can solve the question(very imp)
4) If you do not understand and not able to solve, leave the question. If you want to solve the question but not understand, you can solve it at the end after scanning one time.
5) Do not smoke or drink or do not take coffee or tea before exam. (Choice depends on you)
6) Try to stay and feel comfortable as much as you can.
7) No need to solve all the questions (First solve those you can and then in the second scan you go for remaining questions that are not solved)
8) DO not spend much time if you are able to solve easily. But try to solve the answer quickly.
9) Do meditation before going exam that helps you to keep confident in the exam.
10) Do not chat with friends who are not seriously writing the GATE exam. (try to reach before 1 hour to GATE exam center as they mentioned in the hall ticket)
11) Before the exam day, Go deep sleep in the night
12) Do not write everything step by step to solve the questions in the exam until it is complicated..Use shortcuts and skip few step if u can..
13) DO the best that you can. You must be think you should be a GATE ranker.
14) Gateforum Always helps you to get good GATE rank.

1)An application loads 100 libraries at startup. each library requires exactly one disk access. the seek time
of the disk to a random location is given as 10 ms. rotational speed of the disk is 6000
rpm. if all 100 libraries are loaded from random locations at disk. how long does it take to load
all libraries?

2) A disk has 8 sectors per track and spins at 600 rpm. it takes the controllers 10 ms from the end
of one I/O operation before it can issue a subsequesnt one. how long does it take to read all 8 sectors
using the single interleaving system?

3)A disk has 8 equidistant tracks. the diameter of the innermost and the outermost tracks are 1 cm and 8 cm
respectively.the innermost track has a storage capacity of 10MB. what is the total amount of data
that can be stored on the disk if it is used with a drive that rotates it with-
a)costant linear velocity
b)constant angular velocity

a pipelined processor with a separate instruction and data cache has 5 stages cycle time
30ns .it can start a new instruction on every cycle when there were no hazards .it is used
with copy back data cache with a block size of one word. T-cache=30ns and T-m=90ns
the hit ratio is 80%. ignore write back of dirty pages. if 25% of all instructions are load and store
which only results in hazards, what is the approximate thoroughtput of the CPU.

as size of innermost track is 10MB
total track =8
now disk is rotated with constant linear velocity .in case of CLV data at outermost track is more than the innermost track it means data density decreases as we move from outer to inner and disk rotating speed increases.
hence total size of disk=10+20+30+40+50+60+70+80=360MB

in case of constant angular velocity data density is same at inner as well as outer tracks so disk size=10*8=80MB

seek time =10msec
rotational speed =6000rpm
6000 rotation=60sec
1 rotation=60/6000=1/100sec
time to load 1 library=10msec+5msec=15msec
and for 100 libraries=100*15msec=1.5sec

Hi! Thank you for sharing this knowledge with us. I am actually interested in finding out about any good New York Bar Exam Course that I can enroll in for my bar exams next year. The course can be online or offline as long as it’s good.
